The Best Places To Eat (in Canada) This project began as an unused cover concept and evolved into a broader editorial system examining the role of the critic as a selector—not simply of food, but of cultural value.
The imagery explores authorship through restraint, staging, and editorial construction. Built using photographic references of food critic Chris Nuttall-Smith, the project reconstructs and directs a recognizable editorial figure within a synthetic visual environment—extending the logic of the editorial photoshoot beyond physical production itself.
Developed through iterative AI-directed image making, the process uses AI not for automation, but for refinement, selection, and visual precision.
In a culture defined by infinite production, the work asks a different question: what becomes valuable once everything can be generated?
